Bangladesh’s shameful actions also shouldn’t be forgotten. Bangladesh happily sends its economic migrants all around the world, sending money back to help its economy, yet they refuse to allow the desperate Rohingya to migrate as refugees to Bangladesh. They readily accept foreign aid from the international community, yet they are unwilling to be part of that community. It appears Bangladesh has no conscience. They talk of being ‘flooded’ by Rohingya migrants – the very language of fascism and racism. I urge every Bengali citizen, as long as they aren’t too busy negotiating their BMW X5s through Dhaka traffic, to go to their politicians and demand that they do something for their neighbours in trouble.
