		<description>I am saddened and inspired, in equal measure, to hear of Yasir Abdelmouttalib&#039;s plight. 

The risk of Islamophobia in the West since 9/11 has been stark, and the events of that day probably went some way into eroding all the worthy efforts of the Runnymede Trust up to that day. Be it an attack on minarets, the hijab, the niqaab or a general upturn in Islamophobic discourse in the mainstream media, Muslims the West over have felt the repercussions of this changing climate.

As such, an initiative like the European Muslim Research Centre can become invaluable in reversing this trend; hope lies at the feet of the academics. I am glad you reject from the outset the false premise of incongruity between Islam and Europe. 

Perhaps if we all put a bit of Yasir into us this project might just work.</description>
