This is one of the first projects of this kind – a trailblazer. I hope it generates a constructive debate. I have met people from Portsmouth to Leicester, Manchester to Glasgow, and other areas throughout the country, all of whom have passionately shared their ideas on developing the British Muslim community. What I came across and what may strike some is just how progressive and innovative young British Muslims are. The Platform is an opportunity to raise and share these ideas further.
This is about setting the direction for our community. Not about being told what to do or what to believe, but setting our own scene – the bigger scene – and creating our own goals. It is envisioned that this project will be radical and imaginative, and at the same time, realistic. Having an ambitious challenge with realism. “This is not an academic exercise, nor is it a utopian exercise to create the perfect world”, it is about addressing real challenges and pushing ourselves further by suggesting ways to develop our country.
In addition, I would not want to exclude persons who may not be ‘youth’, but rather, I hope it is a youth-led discourse on building for the future. We will also find that almost all of the issues facing British Muslim youth are not exclusive to us, but rather, have an affect on the whole of British society and this is why we should work towards change.
The Platform aims to provoke discussion. It is not a romance of who represents British Muslims, the Muslim Council of Britain or other organisations. It is far greater. It is for all those who share a vision of developing the British Muslim community further and working for the Common Good. As such The Platform is inviting stakeholders both within and outside the Muslim Council of Britain to share their ideas. To encourage such sentiments and visionary thinking, we have highlighted one theme throughout, “Britain ten years on: envisioning and structuring progress”, which will provide potential ways in furthering our society.
This leaves me with the question, and I hope to hear your views, “Where would you like to see the British Muslim community in ten years time?”

Great opening words, may it be a successful endeavor.
I am really impressed with this idea and can see the blog has a great potential to foster debate and discussion in the Muslim community and wider community at large. I look forward to reading people’s ideas and aspirations.
I would like the british muslims contributing successfuly in all aspects of life, adding value to every job they do and everywhere the live, bringing hope and happiness to people in so many different ways,
work hard to achieve their goals, but more importantly to live in peace with others, accept each other and respect the differences amongst themselves and others.
